City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan Celebrates Re-Election
CITY OF NORTH VANCOUVER – Mayor Linda Buchanan is pleased to be re-elected Mayor in the City of North Vancouver for a second term following Saturday night’s decisive results.
“I want to thank the community for their support,” said Mayor Buchanan. “I love this City. I am honoured and overjoyed that people have put their trust in me to serve as Mayor for a second term. Together we have worked hard to build an inclusive community, but there is more work to do. I am eager to continue what we have started as a Council and as a community.”
Mayor Buchanan significantly increased her vote share from the last election. Unofficial results shared by the City of North Vancouver late last night projected Mayor Buchanan has won her seat by more than 1300 votes. In 2018, Mayor Buchanan won by only 400 votes.
“Last night’s results show that here in the City, we are on the right track,” added Buchanan. “I am more committed than ever to building a connected, vibrant, inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous community for all people. As we look at the next 4 years, my priority remains supporting people in this community and delivering innovative solutions.”
Saturday’s results saw all incumbents who ran in the City re-elected for another term.
“I would like to congratulate everyone who has been elected and thank all of the candidates who put their name forward,” Mayor Buchanan continued. “Running a campaign is hard work, and takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. In local government you have to know how to work with others to move forward. I have embraced collaboration over the past 4 years and I will continue to do so in the term to come. We have some significant challenges ahead of us that will require this Council to come together as we have done over the past 4 years.”
The inaugural meeting of Council is scheduled for November 7, 2022.
