Mobility
Moving efficiently and safely through the community is a priority we all share. Increasingly, people are asking for transportation alternatives that are more affordable and healthier. For too long, cities have been designed with the car in mind, and this hasn’t provided people with the transportation options they need. That’s why I’m focused on advancing a range of mobility improvements that will make it easier for everyone to get around — regardless of how you choose to travel.
Since being elected Mayor we have:
- Delivered RapidBus (R2) across the North Shore
- Secured Burrard Inlet Rapid Transit in the new Mayor’s Council 10 Year Priorities which also includes increased SeaBus service, increased HandyDart service, and a new rapid bus connection between Lynn Valley and Lonsdale.
- Delivered infrastructure to improve Safe Routes to School including new signalization, painted crosswalks, and traffic calming.
- Piloted 30km speed limit in a residential neighbourhood.
- Built new protected mobility lanes and expanded our sidewalk network.
- In progress of delivering the Esplanade Complete Street Project improving safety and public realm.
- Approved the Safe Mobility Strategy and New Mobility Strategy (updated transportation plan).
- Approved the Walk CNV Strategy.
- Initiated the Upper Levels Greenway Consultation and moving to the third stage of engagement.
- Secured Funding for Casano-Loutet Overpass with a ground-breaking set for Fall 2022
- Implemented the first ever Electric Bike Share Program in BC with record-level ridership in North America.
- Partnered with the Province of BC on a Micro-Mobility pilot program (
Delivered a new Marine Drive Mosquito Creek Bridge with dedicated mobility lanes.
