Accessing affordable and licensed child care is a huge challenge for young families, and lack of spaces in our community has resulted in many parents, often women, leaving the workforce. That is why creating new spaces is so important to support the wellbeing of children and the lives of working parents.

Since being elected Mayor we have:

• Delivered 220 child-care spaces, the most in any council term.
• Approved the 2020-2030 Child Care Action Plan.
• Secured funding for  a new child care centre at Mahon Park.
• Signed a memorandum of understanding with the North Vancouver School District  to deliver new child care space.
• Directed staff to create child care design guidelines to support the wellbeing and development of children.
• Created a partnership with the North Vancouver School District, the City library, and non-profit agencies to expand after-school programming and care.
