Child Care
Accessing affordable and licensed child care is a huge challenge for young families, and lack of spaces in our community has resulted in many parents, often women, leaving the workforce. That is why continuing to create new spaces is so important to support the wellbeing of children and the lives of working parents.

Since being elected Mayor, we have:
- Invested in, and delivered, more than 400 child care spaces, the most in any previous council term
- Invested $3.5 M into before and after school care in the new Cloverley Elementary School
- Approved the 2021-2031 Child Care Action Plan and are on track to achieving targets
- Secured provincial investment to support and partner in delivering childcare infrastructure for families
- Signed a memorandum of understanding with the North Vancouver School District to deliver new childcare space
- Directed staff to create child care design guidelines to support the wellbeing and development of children
- Created a partnership with the North Vancouver School District, the City library, and non-profit agencies to expand after-school programming and care
- Endorsed the Community Wellbeing Strategy
